Dear Reader,
How are you? I suppose likely cold and bored of rain at this point. I do have many updates for my blog though! Despite the gap between posts I have been very busy with my hobby. It just takes time to get things to where I want them and then some more time to photograph them. In this grey weather photography is very hard.
This update is about a particular house that I bought from a bundle on eBay. I bought this bundle because the price was quite low and contained lots of Tomy era buildings, some of which were boxed. This has given me lots of projects because they are all blank canvases.
Without further ado, here we go:
If you didn't already guess, Evergreen Hollow is renowned for having a large amount of Evergreen trees. The place was founded many years ago by the Timbertop family who named the village after a wonderful forest which surrounds the Hollow. While the majority of the town is within the centre of the forest, some of villagers prefer the quiet forest. With its soft earth and pine smell, it's the perfect distance from the village yet far enough that you can hear a pin drop.
While on a stroll one afternoon, Peter Timbertop (now the mayor of the town) stumbled across a large wooden building. Amazed that he missed such a large house, he half jogged and half walked (he once was a rather fit bear but now a days he preferred his wife's pies to daily exercise) to find Aubrey. Since the village was formed, the Water's family have lived there and Aubrey has helped build everything there is to see. Peter invited Aubrey to inspect the house to see what state it was in.
To Peter's delight, the house was largely safe, a few rotten boards needed replacing and the place needed electricity, but it would be ready soon. Before being voted Mayor, Peter was a builder, so he too took to fixing the place. Although, really Aubrey was in charge, he was the best beaver for the job.
After a few months, Peter had decided the place would be a lovely holiday cottage. It was near a lake and was quite far out. That was before Arthur Osbourne, who had recently moved to the village heard about the place. He had been on a late Sunday afternoon walk with his wife when he saw the place.
After a long discussion, Peter could see that the distance from the Lodge to the village was what the Osborne's needed. Arthur even said 'it's not too far, not too close, it's just right for us', which Peter found quite funny.
Caroline quickly wanted to renovate the place, which meant Aubrey was given another project to complete. Caroline had lots of plans for him and she kept him busy for some months. Aubrey didn't mind though, no one could handle wood like he could. The result was a large lodge, with a newly added balcony and porch, amongst the trees. The Osbourne's were thrilled with their new home.
Caroline took some time deciding on her largest room. In the end she settled for a smaller kitchen and large living room. As you can see, it has taken no time for her twins to leave their toys all over the place.
A large dresser holds all her stationary.
Perhaps pizza is what's for dinner tonight? I had no idea Kenneth delivers so far out from town.
I also bought an original porcelain bathtub.
Aubrey's fantastic craftsmanship on display again.
Some final touches on the home...
