A Lodge in Evergreen Forest

 Dear Reader,

How are you? I suppose likely cold and bored of rain at this point. I do have many updates for my blog though! Despite the gap between posts I have been very busy with my hobby. It just takes time to get things to where I want them and then some more time to photograph them. In this grey weather photography is very hard.

This update is about a particular house that I bought from a bundle on eBay. I bought this bundle because the price was quite low and contained lots of Tomy era buildings, some of which were boxed. This has given me lots of projects because they are all blank canvases.

Without further ado, here we go:

If you didn't already guess, Evergreen Hollow is renowned for having a large amount of Evergreen trees. The place was founded many years ago by the Timbertop family who named the village after a wonderful forest which surrounds the Hollow. While the majority of the town is within the centre of the forest, some of villagers prefer the quiet forest. With its soft earth and pine smell, it's the perfect distance from the village yet far enough that you can hear a pin drop.

While on a stroll one afternoon, Peter Timbertop (now the mayor of the town) stumbled across a large wooden building. Amazed that he missed such a large house, he half jogged and half walked (he once was a rather fit bear but now a days he preferred his wife's pies to daily exercise) to find Aubrey. Since the village was formed, the Water's family have lived there and Aubrey has helped build everything there is to see. Peter invited Aubrey to inspect the house to see what state it was in.

To Peter's delight, the house was largely safe, a few rotten boards needed replacing and the place needed electricity, but it would be ready soon. Before being voted Mayor, Peter was a builder, so he too took to fixing the place. Although, really Aubrey was in charge, he was the best beaver for the job.

After a few months, Peter had decided the place would be a lovely holiday cottage. It was near a lake and was quite far out. That was before Arthur Osbourne, who had recently moved to the village heard about the place. He had been on a late Sunday afternoon walk with his wife when he saw the place.

After a long discussion, Peter could see that the distance from the Lodge to the village was what the Osborne's needed. Arthur even said 'it's not too far, not too close, it's just right for us', which Peter found quite funny.

Caroline quickly wanted to renovate the place, which meant Aubrey was given another project to complete. Caroline had lots of plans for him and she kept him busy for some months. Aubrey didn't mind though, no one could handle wood like he could. The result was a large lodge, with a newly added balcony and porch, amongst the trees. The Osbourne's were thrilled with their new home.

Here stands the house, with the family enjoying some breakfast outside. It stands far above the trees now.

Caroline also wanted a porch for her flowers. From here can she see quite far into the woods, great for when she needs to supervise her children in their very large garden.

A deck was added to the side of the house, great for when they are having guests over. The height lets you have an ample view over their land and lets fresh air into the living room.

She even made her own curtains with matching thread to the paint on the walls.

Aubrey made the door himself, he's very proud of it.

As for now they're only a few plants around. It's quite the right season yet. Caroline has big plans for her garden and porch areas though.

I used watered down, brown acrylic paint to paint between the 'logs'. This has made the lodge seem weathered and a lot older than it originally looked.

Arthur is not so sure about all the lace but Caroline told him to be quiet, "you have no taste". After that, Arthur chose to not comment on the interior design.

It looks so much better with the paint.

Here is the inside of the house...

Caroline is most pleased that she has a hall way. She has a cupboard for shoes and shoe polish and space under the stairs for storage. She has 5 children to there needs to be lots of storage in her home.

I made a carpet runner for the stairs. Such a large staircase needed a runner to help it feel more cosy.

Caroline took some time deciding on her largest room. In the end she settled for a smaller kitchen and large living room. As you can see, it has taken no time for her twins to leave their toys all over the place.

A large dresser holds all her stationary.

Perhaps pizza is what's for dinner tonight? I had no idea Kenneth delivers so far out from town.

An agar was well over due being in my collection. It took some time to locate one but I am pleased that it fits into the home. Arthur wanted to ensure the house was warm all the time!

The sink unit is also so sweet, I love the cupboards and the drying area that is next to the sink.

Caroline spent a lot of time on her and husband's bedroom. She wanted everything to be neat and tidy. Well, it's as neat as it can with be with the twins also sharing the room. They are still very little so they are sleeping in their parent's room

A Sylvanian house with a bathroom?! It took a lot of maneovering but I managed to fit a full bathroom in the Lodge. I love the bathroom set, it looks so cosy.

The baby's bathroom items are also stored out of the way.

I also bought an original porcelain bathtub.

You can see the original sylvanian families logo that is on the porcelain items.

I am a particular fan of the bedding that Caroline chose, she has done a wonderful job.

Perhaps, don't mention all the lace to Arthur.

Or the lace on the bedding either.

Aubrey's fantastic craftsmanship on display again.

In the loft there is another small bedroom. This belongs to the very naughty, very cheeky, toddler in the family. His name is Toby and he loves his secret hideout of a bedroom.

At the front of the house is Aiden and Eve's bedroom. Caroline decorated this with flowers and a delicate rug.

Some final touches on the home...

More lace?

I hope you have enjoyed this tour/story. I love the house. Originally, it was not high on my list to get but the bundle was a very good deal. Now it belongs to the Osbourne's who I think really suit the house! I will do another post with them enjoying their home.

Thank you for reading and have a great day!
Best wishes,
Helly
