Beechwood Hall Renovation

 Hello all!

I have been beavering away these past few months on my projects. I actually had this completed a month or so ago but I kinda stagger my posts and photography so I always have blog posts prepared.

Anyway, my next blog post is all about Beechwood hall. This was my first sylvanian house I got when I was a child so it holds a special place in my heart. It is safe to say that painting it was quite stressful as I was so conscious I did not want to ruin it. I changed the colours several times but I finally landed with a much more subtle look than Lavender Cottage.

*Little disclaimer that it is still winter here so the lighting is haphazard to say the least*

In my opinion it is one of the prettiest houses they have ever realised. Most of them I think fit into the cosy cottage kind of vibe but this house is a standalone in my view. I think it's because it isn't square, it has such a lovely front door leading into a little room. Plus the wrap around balcony is very cute. I made that into a little garden for Geraldine (spoiler for the family that lives here!)

I will do a little tour before introducing who lives here. So this is the house all opened up. Despite it being a 'town house' it is still quite small. For the family of 7 living here the bedrooms are quite a squeeze. But as sylvanians are so idyllic I am sure they love their cozy home.
So this is the dining room! I felt that adding anything else made it feel crowded so I left it more spacious. That way everyone can fit round the table.
This is the kitchen which is what you first walk into. I love this room, it's the shape making it feel so warm and homely. I didn't wallpaper all the walls as I think that makes it feel too much. So the left and right wall is pink to match the wallpaper. The window is also painted to add some extra detail.
This cabinet is one of favourite pieces of furniture. It comes with the country kitchen set I think. It creates a pantry space and with the tiles looks so lifelike.
Over the stove is the bread bin, some wine and a kettle. It feels so lived in with these extra touches. The frying pan is massive so I decided to hang it to make it look less so.
Next is the living room across from the kitchen. This room was more of a challenge due to its shape. It ended up being the room that took the most time. First off the wall paper took me an age even with a template. I use blue tack as to not damage the walls. Next the furniture didn't match the wall paper. To fix this I decided to paint all of the brown/orange tinge to the wood in a cream colour. So fixing the sofas led to table, phone table and the fire place. Safe to say though it was worth the effort as the room looks so much brighter for it. Even after all that it bothered me the flowers were red and the flowers on the wallpaper are pink. So I took some of the pink wall paint and some pink watercolour paint and mixed them with water. This was to create a tinge of pink and dilute the red. I just lifts the red out and makes it look more pink. I feel the room feels more tied together now. It definitely reflects the mother that lives here.
Here's the phone table looking so much better. This living room set is very warm with its orange shade of wood and the red furniture so repainting it took all that out. I also love the top of the fireplace having its lamp.

Upstairs is the parents room and children's room. I went with painted walls as I knew the parents bed was patterned and children's toys are so colourful it would make the room seem brighter.
The parents room looks very sophisticated with its dark walls and bed spread. I painted the bottom half of the room cream although you can't really see that.
It's a real mix of furniture in the children's room. Here is the bunk beds and I painted them after the sofas. I felt like it would add something and I think it has. The unit to the side is from the conservatory set. I think it looks so much better than the one that comes with the bunk beds. It's filled with toys and books. The rug is a handmade gift.
Then there is the triplet bunk beds. I had to paint these as they were bright white and the window and bunk beds are cream. It just tones down the room and makes it look more peaceful. This is another one of favourite sets as it is so sweet. The bed frames and different colours really adds something to the nursery for me.
Now to who lives here! It being my first house it had to be my first family, the Beaman cats. These are some very loved figures so they are quite faded. I wouldn't change that for the world though, they are so special to me. Helly is my oldest figure, shown by her loss of fur on her hands and feet. They all have the original names except the twins who are Alister and Constance. I just didn't like Pickle and Sprout. They are nicknames rather than actual names to me.
I think Boris is one of my favourite boy figures. His outfit fits him so well!
You wouldn't even know she had facial markings!
You can never have too many photos of sylvanian babies!
I am going to do a separate post on a day in their home so I will be working away at that.
Thank you so much for reading!
Helly (now you know why I use that name, she is the most special figure)
