Behind the scenes (1)

Dear readers,

I hope this post finds you well and enjoying the changing seasons.

Evergreen hollow, as it name suggests, is always green throughout the year. That does not mean the villagers are not enjoying the fruits of their harvest or the slightly chillier weather though!

Today's post is actually a behind the scenes post from my last story. While in the midst of setting up I thought I would take some photos of what it looks like when I am setting things up for a post.

Setting up and taking images (let alone the tidying at the end) is a long process. That isn't to say that I don't enjoy it. It's just that I have to be in the right mood to do it.

Normally when I am taking photos I take enough for 2 posts. It makes sense as while I have everything out I might as well use that time wisely.

So here are the photos...

I like to use the corner of my desk to create some converging lines. This means your eyes are always pulled into the central point which is where I have set up my scene. Within that I like to put some greenery around and I use some fabric for my patio. I use lichen for the bushes and I created my own trees with air dry clay.

On the sidelines I have my lighting and mostly figures. These are the ones that I know I am going to need. I also have a collection of stones that I washed to add some more detail.

In one large container I keep all of my furniture which is organised by room. The bags don't close (hehe) but it means I can move room by room for what I need. I also have bags for clothes, rugs, bedding, outdoor furniture, school and shop accessories.

I also keep the little story books that come with the families as I like to look at them for inspiration sometimes.

Finally, I have a large bag where I keep my figures. I think I have around 230 figures now and I keep them in a thick cotton bag. Although the bag can leave some dust (or lint, I'm not sure what the right word is) I wanted to protect them from sun damage when they aren't on display. I normally tip them out when I am setting up scenes so I can get to all of them.

I hope you liked this short post on scenery set up. I have just finished Wildflower restaurant but I cannot take pictures yet as I'm waiting for another set of dining furniture to complete it.

See you soon!
Helly
