Dear all,
Now it is the Easter holidays I have some free time to disappear into Evergreen Hollow. I've got lots of projects going on at the moment and lots of things to photograph. Given that I have some free time I am hoping to do another village set up over the next week. As you can imagine, the set ups take a while to get everything into place, but of course that is the best part!
You may remember that I posted a set up that included a bakery. This bakery I got part of a bundle which included Evergreen Lodge and two small shop buildings. One of those buildings has been turned into a haberdashery and the other one will soon be a post office for Paul Brightfield. I suspect now that he has a proper building he will have hired someone to help with all the packages that are coming into Evergreen Hollow.
I don't really do specific posts related to figures as I guess that are not the most unique part of my collection. However, I have bought some interesting figures that I think are worth a dedicated post about them, so except the meet some new residents as well.
Now, here is my story...
You may remember some time ago that I introduced the Bramble family. Mortimer is the village baker and spent a lot of time creating tasty bread for the entire village. Well, business certainly picked up for my Brambles and they soon expanded their bakery in order to increase how much they can sell. They renovated the old building, adding a deck outside the front of the shop and more space inside to sell more produce. Before, the bakery was a small window where people could pick what they wanted. But Mortimer had always felt that the bakery should be the heart of the town as everyone eats bread. When they expanded the bakery they decided to build a shop above the bakery to move into. Unfortunately, that meant moving from Lavender cottage. But the family knew it was for the best, they now had a thriving business. A further bonus was Mortimer not having to walk in the cold weather from their cottage into town (especially as he has to get up at half past four in the morning!).
After a few months of renovating, the bakery was complete. Outside was a deck where the village folk could enjoy what they had bought. They had wicker seats made with matching tables to complete the front of the shop. A wide display window was fitted in order to showcase their products as well. On most days the bakery is packed full and today is not exception...
Today Toby was put in charge of collecting his family's loaf of bread but now he is doubting whether his mother wanted seeded or wholemeal. "Do I guess what she wants or go and ask her again" he debates in his head. My guess is that he will be there a while trying to remember.
The Brightfield family are enjoying a nice lunch out. Esther loves watching the village go by while she enjoys her hot chocolate. Pepper has a sandwich for her lunch; she loves crunchy peppers in her sandwich. Little Valentine has finished her rounds with her father. Well, she was helping at the post office but she got carried away stamping the parcels and her father was very confused. Her duties are solely delivery work now. She might even have some letters to deliver on the way home as well.
A pit stop for hot chocolate was needed on a chilly spring morning.
The Buckley family love the bakery and often visit to get hot drinks as well as their favourite baked goods. Today the family's youngest member has joined them, Bambi. Bambi's favourite part is drinking the foam from her father's coffee and scooping out the chocolate shavings. She does this when her father is not looking.
The Robinson family co-run the Blackcurrant cafe in town. Fliss has come to pick up some extra bread as the cafe is running low. Her daughter, Cali, has come to join her as well. It might have something to do with chocolate chip cookies. She loves cookies from the bakery.
Mortimer is quite particular with how he arranges his produce. On the top he displays all the sweet treats he as to offer. Today there is a chocolate and cherry log, sweet Chelsea buns and some chocolate cake. He even put a 'happy birthday' decoration on it to remind the villagers that he makes occasion cakes as well. Not that they need reminding, they often put their special requests for birthdays way before time!
"I really think she wanted seeded, but Dad hates seeded bread..."
Inside the bakery Miriam and Maurice have come to get some provisions for their dinner. The bakery stocks local wines as well as cheeses. Miriam is looking at getting some nice juice to pair with their fish supper tonight.
Maurice is trying to choose some bread, although he has been staring for some time. It seems there might be too much choice!
Ruth is in charge of running the cafe and takeaway counter. This is her domain where she keeps everything neat. This way their customer service is always fast.
Perhaps the biggest fan of the new shop is little Oscar. You might remember that Oscar loves eating raw dough, especially cookie dough. He is often at the bakery with his parents when he is not at nursery. He's trying to see if he's as strong as his Daddy when it comes to moving bags of flour.
Jasper Maple has come to choose something for his lunch, he has some homework that he is procrastinating completing.
Some more pictures of the produce...
Mortimer has refurbished an older style bakery oven. It is rather large and took lots of help moving it into the building.
Teri has come to collect some bread for her family. Her family has carrot soup every week and they love having fresh bread with it.

I hope you liked this tour of my bakery. I have loved collecting all the small pieces for it. I did not have many of the original pieces, I only had the stairs and the white railings. Everything else I sourced and I am really glad that I did. While having the original pieces is great, I like making something that is completely unique. It feels so cosy and life-like to me!
I would love to give a special thank you to the person that bought me the lighting equipment and miniatures. You have really helped my blog have a sharper look and the lighting is so much more consistent!
Let me know what you think below.
Best wishes,
Helly x
