A Morning with Aaron and Sorrel Cottontail

 Dear readers,

I hope this post finds you well? I have been sifting through my photos I’ve taken for my blog and remembered that I took some additional images from some time ago. When I take photos of a house I tend to take images of the family living there, before it gets packed away. I hope one day I can keep more of my sylvanians out but at the moment I don’t have much space for my houses that are large. Highfield’s farm took quite a long time to decorate so it was nice to change it after taking the images. On one hand, it’s nice to have a change but I also love having the family in their home looking all cute and happy.

You might remember that Highfield’s farm is the home to the Cottontail rabbits who have lived there for generations.

Here you can see Sorrel and Aaron looking very happy together.
This little story is about a typical morning in their house, I hope you enjoy!
At 4:30 am a small alarm clock vibrates next to Aaron. He sighs, and gently paws at the clock to stop its ringing. Poor Sorrel did not need to be awake this early, nor did his other children.
Aaron had to remind himself at this point that life was good. He was very fortunate to live in the farmhouse and work for a lovely family, the Fieldings. It just didn’t feel like he was blessed at 4:30am.

In the half light of the dawn, Aaron slides his leg along the bed to get to their wardrobe. He pulls on his shirt and his trusty dungarees, ready for a busy morning.
Despite it being so early, Aaron did love to have his breakfast when he got downstairs. The house is cold at this time of the morning so starting up the oven and getting the fire embers going is essential. Aaron enjoys fried eggs most mornings.
After frying his eggs he gets a banana and some yoghurt from the fridge. Sorrel even prepared him so orange juice, it’s his favourite. It was moments like this where he did feel grateful, he house was quiet, he could only hear the clank of his fork on the plate as he ate his eggs. After eating his eggs he decided some toast would be nice. ‘I need the energy’ he reminds himself, or something along those lines to soothe his conscience.
After his rather large breakfast, Aaron is ready to face the day. He puts his plate and yoghurt bowl in the sink and goes to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth. Then it was time to meet Darcy at Fieldview mill and discuss what needed doing. Aaron hoped he was delivering today, he loved distributing their hard work to the families of Evergreen Hollow.
At around 6am, Sorrel enters the kitchen. The smell of eggs was not the most pleasant but the warmth of the fire and the smell of wood was much more pleasing. Sorrel loved her kitchen, and the best part was cooking early in the morning. Angelica was still sound asleep and Sorrel took these moments to prepare things for her family.
Aaron even bought her a stand mixer, which has been a life saver for her efficiency and her arms. This morning she feels like something warming for breakfast so she gets out her utensils and the ingredients.
After the mixer whirring for 10 minutes, Sorrel has made some fresh waffles for her children when they awake. She feels slightly guilty that Aaron has missed out so she sets some aside for his lunch. Sorrel then hears the gentle murmuring that can only mean her three children are now awake. ‘Let the day begin’ she says, preparing herself for the chaos now rumbling down her stairs.

I hope you liked this little story, it’s not awfully long but I still wanted to share these cosy photos.
It’s not long till Christmas now! I have lots of projects planned over the Christmas period!

Best wishes,
Helly
